Help protect and provide clean water today and for generations to come.

Water is crucial –
for drinking, for business, for farming and more –
but almost 1 billion people do not have access to clean water. Join The Ripple Effect, our worldwide network of monthly givers, working together to ensure enough clean water is available for everyone.

WHERE DOES CLEAN WORK?

CLEAN works worldwide. Through on-the-ground conservation and restoration initiatives, water and sanitation projects, walks for water, education forums and more, CLEAN educates and engages those who want to help and those in need. Currently, CLEAN is implementing water systems in Tanzania and Honduras, water conservation initiatives in India and Malaysia, providing access to safe water in Guatemala and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and mobilizing sustainable clean water to disaster areas.

WHAT IS THE NEED?

By 2050 it is estimated that over half of the world’s population will live in a water-stressed region. At the same time, around the world, 1 in 9 people currently lack access to clean water and 1 in 3 do not have a toilet. Because of these numbers, over 2,000 people die every day due to sicknesses from unclean water and lack of sanitation. CLEAN International works to not only protect water but to provide sustainable, convenient and affordable access to water, sanitation and hygiene.

WHAT IS THE VISION?

CLEAN envisions a world where every person has access to sustainable clean water and sanitation. Thousands of lives are saved and the potential of individuals around the world who are sick or stuck in the endless cycle of fetching water each day have the opportunity to follow their dreams and reach their own potential.

WHY WATER AND SANITATION?

Beyond health, water and sanitation have a huge impact on educational and economic opportunities worldwide. Women and girls spend an average of 6 hours a day fetching water and the lack of safe sanitation and sanitary products keeps girls out of school. Water and sanitation opens doors and provides opportunities that would otherwise not exist.

HOW DOES CLEAN WORK?

CLEAN works with local communities to find solutions that are wanted, sustainable and effective. Community leadership committees are formed, sustainable technologies that can be built and implemented locally are identified, measures to protect water and the environment are implemented, and permanent tools for evaluation, assistance and feedback are put into place.

“Direct Relief would like to thank CLEAN International for its generous support in providing clean water as part of our disaster response efforts.”

-Maris Steward, Direct Relief

“Partnering with CLEAN International as an authorized distributor of Ecofiltro point-of-use water filters at our non-profit health center in rural Guatemala allows us to place water filters in the homes of patients suffering from waterborne illnesses while simultaneously treating their acute illness- coupling curative and preventive healthcare interventions at the moment a patient accesses our services.  This potent combination produces both an immediate and sustainable positive impact on the health of our patients, their families, and our community.”
