Bringing Clean Water – One Tablet at a Time

CLEAN International has partnered with Direct Relief to provide 150,000 purification tablets to disaster areas. These “Aquatabs” made by Global Hydration kill microorganisms in the water and prevent diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. The use of these tabs in previously unclean water will allow people in to drink water without risking their health or livelihood.

CLEAN International is celebrating our Worldwide Walk for Water this March and thousands have joined us. This year, we invited our participants to “Make a Move for Water”, letting them decide on their activity (activities) to gain miles throughout the month. One participant took this to a whole new level and created his very own swim-a-thon.  Douglas Holmes, an 85 year old swim master used his passion for swimming to make a global difference this year. Doug has trained and swam competitively in Masters, YMCA, and Senior Olympics for over 60 years. During his swimming career, he has broken many records and continues to exceed expectations. Intel Lake Restorations Make a Lasting Difference

Located in Bengaluru, India, Lake Nanjapura and Lake Dyavasandra received much needed help in 2020 and 2021 as the lakes were full of silt and unable to collect regional rainwaters. Enter Intel. With a global goal to restore 100% of global water use back to the Earth, Intel partnered with CLEAN International and SayTrees to completely rejuvenate both lakes.  The work started in 2020 with Lake Nanjapura, a 16 acre lake, able to restore 50 million gallons of water and continued into 2021 with the rejuvenation of nearby Lake Dyavasandra, a 30 acre lake, now able to restore 77 million gallons of water.  Today the lakes are not only helping to recharge groundwater but are serving as a lifeline for [...]

Drinking contaminated water has short and long term health impacts that can be fatal. Today alone, over 2,000 people will die today from unclean water and almost half of these are children. Intel Launches Restoration of Lake Nanjapura, Bengaluru India

Nestled in southern Bengaluru sits Lake Nanjapura, a serene location that once boasted a vibrant lake. Today, Lake Nanjapura sits practically dry and is one of many regional lakes in desperate need of restoration.  Intel Corporation, a global force in sustainable water management, is taking action. On February 11, 2020, Intel Corporation, in partnership with CLEAN International and Bengaluru-based Say Trees, launched the restoration of Lake Nanjapura. The complete restoration project, taking place over the next 6 months, will include desilting, erosion control, and the planting of over 6,000 trees, including an adjacent Miyawaki Forest. Team Szakos and Vega Grande Team Up for Clean Water

Ishimwe Yusto Balenga – Tanzania (Nguruka)

Meet Ishimwe Yusto Balenga, an 11 year old boy from Nguruka ward, Kigoma, Tanzania. Ishimwe’s hometown has a population of about 56,000 people. Most of the residents of Nguruka are peasants and small entrepreneurs who sell local fish. There is no piped drinking water to Nguruka, forcing the residents to consume dirty water and walk for their water. Ishimwe is a third grade student at the Nyangabo Primary Public School. To fetch water for his family, Ishimwe walks 2 km every day. After filling up a 5 gallon bucket and 1 gallon jug of water from the well, he pushes the water back home using a homemade wooden bicycle. From March 16-22, 2019 CLEAN International is hosting the annual Worldwide Walk for Water, a global call to action to honor World Water Day through providing and protecting clean water worldwide. During this week, businesses, families, clubs, churches, schools and individuals will unite in a global movement for clean water.
